OUR VISION

The San Antonio Queen of Soul's pageant training program has strived to further the educational goals of young, African-American women in the San Antonio area.

About

San Antonio Queen of Soul, Inc., a member of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, serving for over fifty years is a non-profit, non-political 501(c)(3) organization. The organization's conception in the late 1960s was the idea of Gracie Poe and several civic-minded individuals who sought to address the lack of inclusion of the African-American community in the many Fiesta activities.

Once the Fiesta Commission accepted the Board of Directors request to become a PMO-Participating Member Organization, they began its annual ritual of holding a Queen Of Soul contestant presentation reception and pageant for the community.

Our Queen and her court provides representation of the African-American community in San Antonio's annual Fiesta celebration and various other civic activities.  Our scholarships help emphasize the importance of higher education and aid motivated young women in attaining their academic goals.

In preparation for the annual pageant, potential contestants are solicited from schools, churches and a variety of other sources in the San Antonio area. Once selected, our training program reinforces charm, poise, talent enhancement, proper etiquette and self-esteem with our contestants.

The pageant is designed to create enthusiasm in our young ladies and help them to be aware of their beauty, perfect self-confidence, and highlight their intellectual abilities. Each lady in the program truly represents her community, school, and church.

The pinnacle of the organization's efforts is the Reception in which the young ladies are presented to the city and the Fiesta Commission and the crowning of the well-deserving Queen of Soul. The selected Queen and her Court embrace their duties of representing the organization at many exciting activities during Fiesta including the Battle of Flowers Parade, the Flambeau Parade, the Cavaliers River Parade, and numerous other events throughout the Fiesta season.

We are extremely pleased to be one of the nine official Royalty Members of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission. The Commission's support is invaluable and we appreciate its continued investment in our growth as a community organization and inclusion as a participating member in all facets of the city's Fiesta activities. We also thank all of our other dedicated supporters for your constant and continuous encouragement.
